Meet Alicia

Alicia O. (she/her/hers) started her background in social services working in the field of child protective services where she remained for many years. While in this field, she worked in the intake investigations department and found her passion in working with teens. Working as an independent living counselor for child protective services, Alicia assisted teens in foster care to transition into independent living. Some teens being parents, she aided them in obtaining parenting classes and other support services before transitioning from foster care to living on their own as single parents.

After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Deviant Behavior and Social Control with a minor in sociology, Alicia went on to pursue a career in the behavioral health field as a Therapeutic Staff Support worker. There, she worked with teens in home, school and community settings where she assisted in case management and implementing treatment plans- which included behavior modification strategies.

After moving to Florida from Pennsylvania, she began a career as an Assisted Housing Counselor for the Section 8 Program. Here, she maintained a caseload of 300-400 families in which she was responsible for monitoring her clientele following HUD guidelines to be able to receive assistance. Alicia is talented in balancing quantity while maintaining a high level of quality, compassion and unconditional positive regard to those she works with.

Alicia is a mother of four children- two sons and two daughters. Alicia’s youngest son was diagnosed with osteosarcoma cancer in 2017. After a 2.5-year battle with cancer, he gained his angel wings on his 15th birthday on October 6, 2019. In her spare time, Alicia is a huge advocate for pediatric cancer awareness making sure to raise and increase awareness everywhere she goes. Alicia has a lot of experience in grief, loss and trauma making sure to treat everyone with respect and honor. Her motto is: “You never know what a person is going through. Everyone is fighting a battle.”
